Update on our Customer Proposition - due to heightened security measures (26/09/2001)

Following on from various local and regional communications this update presents an overview of the latest restrictions on our customer proposition capabilities in light of the security parameters being applied network wide.

Global Cargo Security

Following the decision of the DTLR on the 11th September to heighten security measures, British Airways can confirm that, subject to some restrictions remaining in place, we have resumed the acceptance and carriage of cargo across our network as follows:

Origin UK & I

DTLR Heightened Security Measures apply. The carriage of cargo on both passenger aircraft and freighters has fully resumed.

Origin USA & Canada

In compliance with the FAA & Transport Canada security measures.

The carriage of cargo has resumed with limited restrictions currently being applied:
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward truck to UK&I and Europe is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping over UK Regional airports is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward flight is currently restricted.

Origin Europe

UK DTLR security requirements apply such that all cargo departing on a BA service from a point on the European network is subject to enhanced security measures by BAWC or our appointed GHA's prior to export. All transhipment cargo will be subject to further security measures prior to export from the UK.

The carriage of cargo has resumed with limited restrictions currently being applied:
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward truck to UK&I is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping over UK Regional airports is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward flight is currently restricted.

Origin Rest of the Network

UK DTLR security measures apply such that all cargo departing on a BA service from any other point on the network is subject to enhanced security measures by BAWC or our appointed GHA's prior to export.

The carriage of cargo has resumed with limited restrictions currently being applied:
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward truck to UK&I & Europe is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping over UK Regional airports is acceptable.
All cargo transhipping Heathrow or Gatwick that requires an onward flight is currently restricted.

Freighters

A revised Freighter programme has been implemented and designed to best meet both current and future customer demands. Please contact your local British Airways World Cargo Sales Office for more details.

Additional Information

Perishable cargo is acceptable on a point to point & transhipment basis for flights to & from Heathrow & Gatwick. Valuable cargo, AVI, Human Remains, Dangerous Goods are now acceptable on a point to point & transhipment basis.
